Journal Article Talking Points
Using the journal article by Case et al. 2008, 'Functional Analysis of the Murine Cytomegalovirus Chemokine Receptor Homologue M33: Ablation of Constitutive Signaling is Associated with an Attenuated Phenotype in vivo'. I have come up with a number of key talking points which I would continually refer to if I was giving an interview on this research.
- Human Cytomegalovirus is an extremely prevalent virus infecting between 50-90% of the population worldwide.
- The cytomegaloviruses are particularly interesting because they have, over a long period of time, evolved to produce proteins which are modified copies of our own proteins.
- This is the first research of its kind which shows that modification of viral proteins could be used as a drug therapy.
